BB FUZZ MUSIC CLASS ROOM

Jeff, I have some questions about CD burning.

Is it OK to burn a copy of a CD?

In most cases NO.  Almost all CDs are protected by copyright law.  If your CD has this symbol on it or on the cover © you cannot copy or burn it.  You can also find the copyright symbol © on books and videos.  See picture below.

What happens if I burn it anyway?

You could get into a bunch of trouble.  You could be fined thousands of dollars and/or be sentenced to jail.

When I burn a copy of a CD that is protected by copyright law is that really stealing?

YES.  Since you don't own the copyright it's not yours to copy, burn, or distribute.  It is just like stealing the CD from a store without paying for it.

Is it OK to download music from the Internet?

Many Internet music sites are illegal and you could get into big trouble for using them.  There are sites that charge a small fee for downloads which are legal.  Make sure you know if your site is legal before you use it.  Just because its on the Internet does not mean it is legal.

Jeff, can I burn a copy of your CD?

No.  By purchasing our CDs you invest in our company, which allows us to create and make available more fun products.  My CD is protected by copyright law and cannot be copied or burned.  Check out the picture below and you can see the copyright © symbol on the back of one of my CD covers and on the CD itself.
